About
The SAN4Fuel project aims to:
- Develop new single-atom photocatalysts for green and sustainable fuels production.
- Focus on photocatalytic water splitting and CO2 reduction for hydrogen and hydrocarbon production.
- Utilize supercomputing at VSB-TUO for materials design and reaction mechanism descriptions.
- Foster knowledge sharing among consortium researchers.
- Enhance career opportunities for early-stage researchers at partner institutions.
- Strengthen UPOL’s management skills for European R&D programs.
- Increase the research profile of UPOL, VSB-TUO, LKO, and UNITS.
The main aim of this Twinning grant is to establish a cutting-edge educational and research programme at UPOL as well as among the Twinning partners (TPs), thus strengthening the scientific research profile and international relevance of UPOL in the field of sustainable and green energy, which represents one of the pillars of Horizon 2020 Work Programme—Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy, embracing the aims of the Twinning programme (Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation programme, Horizon 2020). It will thus promote experience and research capacity of the UPOL team comprised mainly of senior and early-stage researchers in (i) photocatalytic water splitting and (ii) photoinduced carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction) by jointly developing new-generation hybrid single Earth-abundant transition metal (Co, Cu, Ni, Fe, etc.) atom photocatalysts.
