Alberto Naldoni

Assoc. Prof. Alberto Naldoni is currently a co-leader of the photoelectrochemistry group at the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials of Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from University of Milan (2010) before moving to the Institute of Molecular Sciences and Technologies (ISTM) of the Italian National Research Council in Milan. He spent three years as a visiting faculty at the Birck Nanotechnology Center of Purdue University to investigate alternative plasmonic materials. His research focuses on nanomaterials for plasmonics, photocatalysis, and photoelectrochemistry. In particular, he is an expert in the design and atomic control of structural defects in metal oxides and low dimensional materials for photocatalysis. He also investigates the use of alternative plasmonic materials in the form of both colloids and metasurfaces for solar energy conversion for photocatalysis, water purification, and nanoscale heat utilization. A.N. has developed a scanning microscopy approach to map the nanoscale catalytic activity of photoactive nanomaterials.
