Aristeidis Bakandritsos

Dr. A. Bakandritsos is a group leader in  CATRIN-RCPTM in the field of functionalization of nanomaterials, such as nanocarbons and inorganic nanoparticles tailored for their application in energy storage, biomedicine and catalysis. He received his BSc in 2001 and PhD in 2006 in chemistry from the A.U. of Thessaloniki and from N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” in Athens, respectively. He performed post-doctoral research at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at “Demokritos”, and also worked as a visiting scientist for short periods of time at RCPTM (Czech Republic), at the Dept. of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science at the University of Szeged, Hungary and at the Materials Science Dept., Cornell University, USA. In 2012 he was elected at the Dept. of Materials Science, University of Patras as a lecturer and later as an assistant professor until 2015-2016, when he joined RCPTM. In the last five years in RCPTM, he supervised research projects leading to top-rated publications (Nat. Nanotechnol., ACS Nano, Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Env. Sci. and others). Research results have been published in more than 120 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 33). As a group leader, he supervises the work of 8 post-doctoral researchers and has co-authored several international projects related to energy storage like the EIC Transition: TRANS2DCHEM with Prof Otyepka, an MSCA, Z-ION project, and the Graph-Max project between Germany and Czech Republic.
